I have walked regularly in lalbagh, to shed a few pounds, for a few years now. It is a great feeling to walk in between those huge trunks or the huge canopy or the fragrance or just the beautiful seasonal carpet that the fallen flowers have weaved. Last spring, I captured a few trees in and around my house, which gave rise to this idea of capturing all the flowering trees. So, I started carrying my camera, atleast once a week, to capture the current blooms. While photographing them, I’ve met quite a few people. The conversation usually begins with, ‘Are you a botanist?’. I say a ‘no’. Then they ask me if I am a professional photographer. I say a ‘no’ again. I tell them I am a software engineer, a photo enthusiast, just trying to document what I enjoy here. It is always surprise, followed by words of encouragement and more information regarding the trees.
Most of these below pics are shot in lalbagh; some from the roadside. Hope we cherish them for generations!
These are just 10 trees from the ones that I have photographed so far. Please see the flickr set, http://www.flickr.com/photos/mamtavn/sets/72157638071104325/ for more pics. It is work in progress.
