Happened to attend the Orchid Show 2013 organized by TOSKAR, at lalbagh, Bangalore. Below is a small introduction to Orchidaceae followed by pictures that I took.
The orchid family (Orchidaceae) is among the most diverse families of flowering plants, with about 25,000 species known to science so far. Majority of the orchids come from tropical countries. Most orchids are epiphytes, meaning they grow on trees. Some orchids are lithophytes, meaning they grow on rocks. Some are terrestrial orchids, or ground orchids. Orchids do come in bright vibrant colors. But there is no blue or black orchid. If you see a blue/black orchid, it is dyed!
