Somanathapura Temple is one of the temples of the hoysala architecture, near Mysore, built by Somanath. The architecture is similar to the temples in Belur-Halebeedu. The whole temple is carved in sandstone.

It gets very hot during the day. So, the best time to visit would be around 10am or after 3pm. ASI is restoring some parts of the temple. You cannot carry tripod into any of the ASI sites. So, if you are into photography, just carry the camera alone.
