Summer has been exceptionally hot this time around in Karnataka, India. After a couple of decades the backwaters of the kabini river had dried. It was quite a sad state!
It so happened the 2 nights we were there at Kabini JLR, it rained quite well. What a relief for the animals! However, the rains made the leopard/tiger sighting to zero. That was a huge disappointment! Nevertheless, very happy that the ponds filled and there was some water for the animals.
During one of the safaris, we happened to witness the peacock dance, when it rained. The peacock was trying to attract the peahens, maybe, or was just happy that it rained! Beautiful sight!
Here are some of the pics from that show –
The peahens did not pay much attention to this fellow. They all continued to forage. We continued our safari.
