It is Dasara holidays which means a couple of weeks off for the kids! With the winter just setting in, it was an ideal time to head towards Hampi. We decided to take the Bangalore-Chitradurga-Hospet route. Bangalore – Chitradurga (NH4), the road is just fine, mostly 4 lane. Chitradurga – Hospet (NH13) was not bad either. Since the mining activity is suspended, there were not many trucks on the NH13 highway. The road has a few rough patches for about 15-20 km, overall it was still ok; filling the potholes was in progress.
When we reached Chitradurga, we thought of making a quick stop to see the fort. The boys had never seen a fort which still had most of the walls intact.
Chitradurga is full of rocks and boulders and each boulder is unique. Some look like elephants, some resemble frogs, some are like snake’s hoods, all natural and completely upto your imagination. We just spent a couple of hours here and headed towards Hospet.
Relaxed for sometime and set out in the evening to see the Tungabhadra dam in Hospet.
You can see pictures of the entire trip here.
